what we plan to achieve
Creating Care project, during its lifetime, will produce 5 main results that will come to the aid of professionals and foster care families.
Tool for Understanding Professionals’ Perceptions and Experiences in terms of recruitment and communication with foster families
Leader: Innsbruck University; Co-leader: Afeji
Recruiting and retaining high-quality foster families is a major challenge for the responsible professionals. The sense of responsibility of a successful recruitment is increased by a plus-factor: the stigma and misconception about these children. Through this result we aim to understand the current foster care system context and reality as well as the professionals’ perceptions and experiences in terms of the recruitment process and communication strategies with foster families.

Training course on communicating skills and strategies in the process of recruiting foster families
Leader: KMOP; Co-leader: Compass
Despite the efforts made towards deinstitutionalization, specifically speaking in terms of recruiting foster families, the current strategies and approaches used to captivate the attention and interest from the community, are not bringing the wanted results at the level needed as the number of children placed in these alternative measures is still low.
This PR aims to fill that gap and respond to this need. Additionally, it aims to provide training to the professionals in the foster care system, by enabling and improving some essential skills, while recruiting and communicating, especially in the case of parents opened to foster unaccompanied children.
